Water supply is one of the major issues that need to be addressed as we face the climate crisis. On a small biointensive farm, securing a good water supply is essential. For people who make a living from working on a farm, the capacity of a pond is, therefore, a priority.
At Jardins de la grelinette, Jean-Martin Fortier and Maude-Hélène Desroches made the decision to double the capacity of their pond. Since the size of their current pond was insufficient, this expansion was necessary to ensure a more constant water supply for the next farming seasons.
Unfortunately, the project took an unexpected turn and the couple was shocked to find that a much larger portion of their forest would have to be used for this project. See more:
